The brief required the creation of a new and unique 2D Platformer game proposal. The game requires goals and objectives based off traditional platfomer elements. Therefore the game needs a hero, enemy, obstacles, collect-ables, environment and a sprite-sheet, all in all to fit the storyline of the game.
Strong assets are needed for the elements in the game such as user interface to create a positive user experience. Therefore a title design, launch screen, working menu screen and a heads up display. The 2D game needs to be playable for a minimum of three minutes.
Every day more games are made and added to the market place, however the majority of new games are 3D, as it has become extremely popular. So with less 2D games on the mare-kt as they have another chance to stand out. However due to their unpopularularoitzy at the moment the 2D games need to be immensely fun to play and have a very strong storyline to stand out. As well as being relate-able in order to keep the user playing.
Heaven Spotted is a platfomer game inspired by graffiti and rollerskating culture. The name stems from the term "Heaven-spotted" which means to graffiti in a difficult location. Mae (the protagonist) is a young girl trying to become a well known graffiti artist. She lives in the small town of Bryony, where she constantly gets busted by the police, most frequently by police officer Derrick.
The game begins with Mae escaping Derrick as she has been caught creating graffiti. Her mission is collecting as many spray-cans and coins as possible, while not being caught by Derrick.
The key objectives for “Heaven Spotted” is to create a 2D platformer game including basic game elements such as movement, a hero, an enemy, collect-ables, and an environment. As well as a menu, title screen, launch screen and a Head-up-display (HUD).
Mae needs to collect coins and spray cans as well as avoid the police officer (Derrick) and move around obstacles in a well rounded Environment
Heaven Spotted is a 2D platfomer game aimed towards indie gamers, as well as gamers with an interest design and visuals. The audience must also be intrigued by the look and feel of games and a well rounded storyline. Therefore targeted towards gamers that want to play for aesthetics rather than to just win.
